SeaOtter alteration makes for happy owner

Ron Toye bought ‘Last Fling’ - a 41 ft SeaOtter with centre cockpit in November. A quality vessel with double bedroom and toilet facilities at the rear and galley saloon to the front incorporating a shower, toilet and washbasin. Whilst being delighted with the purchase, they felt that the front toilet washroom layout could be improved upon, as Ron explains; “next to galley washroom was a fairly redundant wardrobe - by knocking into this area I visualised a much larger washroom with a proper shower area. It would be much better than using the existing cramped conditions.

Ron approached ELITE Marine Services and met with Lee Daniel to discuss his idea. The two talked over the possibilities for altering the layout of the washroom and decided on a plan, which Lee describes, “initially we thought about retaining the position of the toilet however as we talked through the project it became clear that the best way to optimise the space was to redesign the layout completely and move the toilet and replace the sink basin with a smaller unit. This would give Ron and his partner Mel a more functional space.”

With the plans agreed and the estimate approved, the team at ELITE set about the refit of the washroom. The first job was to knock through the wardrobe and remove the existing shower, sink and toilet arrangement. Ron and Mel selected white plastic tile panelling (mock tiles that are flexible to move with the structure of the boat) for the new bathroom. The light units and switches were repositioned, a smart new white sink unit, towel rail and chrome shower were fitted. All pipework was boxed in or hidden and the area was made waterproof.

The result was an amazing transformation - “I’m thrilled with how it has turned out” said Mel, “not only do we have a practical bathroom but it looks really smart.”
